Luke Walton — L.A. Lakers (3% Ownership)
Game: Phoenix at L.A. Lakers, 10:30 p.m. EST
Ahhh, Thursday. The day when all the fun picks come out. I've never selected Luke Walton before for anything other than
The NBA Player with the Dumbest Father Award. That's a new
ESPY this year, I think (wink, wink). On a more candid note, this is a low ceiling pick on a day with two games on the NBA schedule. If there's one thing I've

preached about fantasy basketball it is you can't be productive without the minutes. And if you're looking to stream in a productive waiver wire talent on this day, no one will have a greater opportunity at filling the bill than Walton. Over his last three games, the former Wildcat has averaged 11 points, 5.7 boards, 4.3 assists and 1.7 threes in over 30 minutes. Trust me barring some unforeseen injury or the Cavs blowing out the Rockets (which isn't a totally absurd notion these days), there's no one else you'll find on the wire Thursday that will approach that type of minutes. This game might be a blowout. It might not be. With this pick I'm guessing/hoping Phoenix hangs in there, so Walton can see his new found court time with the starters at the end of the game. He has been one of the biggest benefactors of
Andrew Bynum's injury, which allowed
Lamar Odom permission into the starting lineup, resulting in an expanded role for Walton. People are slow to realize this but if he throws up a few more good games they'll take notice.
