Channing Frye — Portland (1% Ownership)
Denver @ Portland, 10:30 p.m. EST tip
I hate re-using words. Makes me feel like I have a weak vocabulary, which might very well be the case. But, as I've definitely written recently, pickin's are slim Thursday, with only two games on the NBA slate. I mean if you were in a deep league, who exactly could you add out of Dallas, New Orleans, Denver and Portland? James Singleton has come on strong in Dallas, but those numbers have all come in blowouts, which you can't depend on, especially for this one. Peja is hurting in The Big Easy, and there's a chance he'll be out Thursday, but who would see more minutes with him out? Rasual Butler and James Posey and they're already owned in most competitive leagues. Denver will have their full lineup Thursday night, so there's little potential there.

With
Greg Oden's never ending struggle to have knees that reflect his actual age rather than that of his grizzled visage, Frye has been sprung back into the Blazers regular rotation. But the former Wildcat's minutes are a tough situation to figure out. Up one day, down the next. If you were to go purely based on the recent pattern orchestrated by Nate McMillan over the last seven games he's been in the rotation, you'd come to the conclusion we should expect to see the high end of the spectrum in this one. Over his last seven games, starting on February 18, his minutes go like this:19, 13, 24, 9, 25, 12, 20. You see the logic behind my every other day theory. Well, he has one game Wednesday at Indiana, then comes to Denver Thursday. I'm not going to waste your time and mine pondering how the game will shake out matchup wise. Just know that Frye may see some time at power forward, spelling the two starting Blazers big men and if he does receive his high end of minutes know that he has a low ceiling but is capable of providing above average points, rebounds, steals and the occasional three. The good news for Blazers fans is he's back in the rotation. The bad news for Frye owners is his schizophrenic playing time.
There I go re-using words again.
